Hi

Sometimes when I start my safrane he talks and says "System Malfunction, consult your renault dealer" (English error message)

Any ideas why? The engine runs normally and everything else seems fine.

Do you have any control light illuminated together with this message?

No.

No lights anywhere. He just speaks his little message. I turn off the car, remove the key, put the key back in and re-start and it says nothing :?

Hmm, it seems to me that something has bad connection. I think diagnostic in service should say which system makes this happen. The similar problem had my father with the bulb in registration plate light-the bulb worked well but the wire was somehow damaged and had probably higher resistance and he had every time the spoken message about the parking lights malfunction. He changed the bulbs there and everything was OK.

Well I worked out what was causing this... I think!

It is the engine being primed. After the fuel pump primes the engine there is a little buzzing sound for about 3 seconds. If I try to start the engine in this time he speaks the error message. If I let it finish and then start he never speaks.

So.. I think that is the problem - he likes time to wake up!

It is like a dog... It always looks like his owner...
