I recently got this panel from an old safrane and decided to put it into my safrane. 
The problem? - No wires for the stereo! I thought my safrane would have these wires included for upgrading. I was wrong! I can go back and get the plug/wires but what do I do then to get it working with my stereo? Even if I can't get it working it still looks cool

Yup, it certainly is! When we first got the first saff the speedo on it was intermittently sticking so i had to take it all apart to try and work out what was wrong. I didn't actually reassemble it for about 5 months. The plastic parts used to move from the boot to the back seats and vice versa almost every week. Still, it's all fixed now and I can proudly announce that I know the cause: The clear plastic panel on the front of the speedo unit WARPS very slightly. I don't know if its caused by heat or if Renault made a dodgy batch without realising but some of them are warped including another safrane owner I saw in Kent recently who has the very same problem. Took me months to solve it but finally noticed it when I compared it against one from a scrap yard safrane - The warping is only very slight but its enough to put pressure on the plastic back plate that the needles are attached to and the holes catch on the spindles. Total nuisance but at least I didn't have to pay Renault their Å |
